This September, forest owners, forestry professionals, and nature enthusiasts are invited to two new outdoor workshops in Ireland, organised by the Teagasc Forestry Development Department in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) Forestry Division. The events are coordinated by Integrate Network chairs Jonathan Spazzi and Dermot Dunphy.
Both workshops will take place at the marteloscope training facility in Teagasc Oak Park Research Centre, Carlow – also the site of an interactive field exercise during the upcoming 11th Integrate Network Annual Meeting (7–10 October 2025, Ireland).
Participants will explore how forest management can support biodiversity and multifunctional forest use:
- Workshop 1 focuses on enhancing biodiversity through forest management practices.
- Workshop 2 explores how to balance timber production with biodiversity goals.
Each workshop is a stand-alone event, but together they offer a well-rounded, two-day introduction to close-to-nature forest management. Designed to be accessible and practical for forest owners, the sessions are equally relevant to forestry professionals and the wider public.
