At the beginning of June, more than 50 participants – including forestry practitioners, researchers and policymakers – gathered in Zurich, Switzerland, for an interactive 3-day Integrate Network workshop.
The days were marked by insightful presentations, vivid discussions and diverse outdoor sessions, where participants discussed how to promote more resilient and species-rich forests, as well as how Integrative Forest Management may respond to new challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss.
Organised by the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN, ETH Zürich and the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL, the event kick-started with three keynote presentations on Integrative Forest Management, the economic benefits of ecologically driven decision-making, as well as measures of forest biodiversity.
